東日本大震災は津波と原発事故を引き起こし、放射能が日本中を汚染した。現在も被曝の渦中にいるぼくらは、新たな生き方の模索を強いられている。一人のアーティストとして、この状況に何か貢献できるだろうか？ぼくは悩んだ末に、戦争を経験したお年寄りの言葉を題材に舞台を作ろうと決心した。戦後の復興の中に、何かぼくらにとって参考になるヒントがあると直感したからだ。早速、お年寄りたちとのワークショップを開始し、彼らの言葉、声、音楽、身体の表情など、様々な形でメッセージを受け止めた。そこには、数々の驚きがあり、希望とヒントがあった。それらを映像、写真、ダンスとしてドキュメントし、舞台作品「ドキュメンタリー・オペラ」として再構成（=REMIX）した。それは、映像、写真、ダンスを伴うコンサートのようでもあり、生演奏とダンスを伴うドキュメンタリー映画のようにも見えるだろう。 野村 誠
I am a composer and pianist. On 11th March 2011 there was a terrible earthquake which caused tsunami and the disaster of Fukushima Nuclear Power Plants. The radioactivity has contaminated all over Japan and the Pacific Ocean. Since then I have been wondering how I, as an artist, could contribute to solving these terrible situations and made my decision that I would have to create a documentary opera in collaboration with old people who had experienced the Pacific War. Because I thought that the clue to revive from this disaster seemed to lie in how they had revived from the war. Then I started creative music workshops with them and a video artist, a photographer, and a choreographer documented their voices, physical and musical expressions. Finally we created a multimedia work which is composed from music, video, dance, and photos. It will be like a concert with video, photos and dance accompaniment, but also like a documentary film show accompanied by live music and dance performance. (Makoto Nomura)
